Location

Kelpcrofters operate off the Isle of Skye, in the north west Highlands of Scotland. Our kelp farm is located in the Sound of Pabay near the township of Broadford. The location benefits from good shelter from strong winds and has a short marine fetch all round. The site also has steady currents, providing good nutrient flow, and is unaffected by any land run-off or pollution. It does not encroach on fishing grounds or established navigational channels.

Details of the South Pabay kelp farm are shown in the map to the right. Yellow 'Special Mark' navigation buoys are located at the south east and south west corners of the farm, in line with our Licence conditions. Coordinates for the  four boundary corners of the farm are: 57° 15.975' N 05° 51.245' W ; 57° 16.147' N 05° 50.835' W
